Code of conduct
Black Cat promotes sustainability, equality, ethical and honest operations as our core values. We believe that these values will contribute to trust and loyalty among customers, suppliers, business partners, and other relevant affiliates.
Black Cat encourages lasting relations with business partners and suppliers with a focus on how they favour environmentally friendly solutions in their businesses. Suppliers and business partners are expected to adhere to ethical standards, which are consistent with the terms in this document. Black Cat is committed to social responsibility, and our core principle is direct and fair trading. Suppliers and business partners are expected to meet the code of conduct requirements during business with Black Cat.
Communication, fair competition, and transparency
• Black Cat encourages fair competition between business partners and suppliers, a culture of trust, honesty, and ethical standards.
• Black Cat wants an environment that stimulates open communication when it comes to sharing thoughts and concerns about violation of principles presented in this document.
• Black Cat assures that suppliers and business partners are selected via transparent and fair procedures, such as requests for quotations, calls for tenders or listings based on objective criteria for suppliers and business partners.
• Black Cats suppliers and business partners must provide holistic and accurate information to suppliers, shareholders, and partners.
• Collaborations between Black Cat and our suppliers and business partners are lawful, efficient, and fair.
• Black Cat will only enter collaborations with suppliers and business partners involved in legitimate business founded by legitimate sources.
Working conditions and working environment
• The supplier or business partner undertakes to promote and respect the principle of diversity and equal opportunity and facilitate a gender balanced work environment.
• The supplier or business partner is dedicated to upholding a work environment where all employees are treated with dignity and respect, no matter gender, language, ethnicity, age, physical characteristics, disability, religion, material status or sexual orientation.
• Social benefits and wages must at the very least satisfy national, legal or industry standards.
• It is required that all Black Cats suppliers and business partners make health and safety primary in their businesses. Employee’s health and safety should not be compromised for other priorities.
• Suppliers and business partners promote a supporting, trustful and positive work environment.
• The supplier or business partner promotes a healthy and safe environment where the employees also feel safe. Employees shall not engage in overloading work. All machines and equipment are to be controlled regularly and employees should receive safety training to prevent accidents or injuries.
• The supplier and business partner must have safety procedures for when/if emergency situations occurs.
• Workers are provided with clean toilets, water and eating facilities.
• All the guidelines above also apply to supplier and business partners´ subcontractors.
Prohibition of forced labour
• The supplier or business partner is prohibited from using any form of servile, compulsory or forced labour, any form of oppression or child labour, and must follow national labour laws.
• The supplier or business partner must obtain good and healthy working conditions for their employees. This includes a safe environment, overtime payment, pauses during the day and appropriate working hours.
• Any form for harsh, inhuman treatment is prohibited. This includes threats, sexual harassment or abuse, corporal punishment, and mental or physical abuse.
• This also applies to supplier and business partners´ subcontractors.
Protection and security of personal data
• All laws and regulations relating to the protection and security of personal data are to be followed by the business partner or supplier.
Protection of the environment
• The supplier or business partner undertake to work towards UN’s goal to stop climate change by 2030. To achieve this goal, the supplier and business partner must undertake to: Prevent pollution from production activities, contribute to a low-carbon economy, preserve natural resources, minimize waste, and maximize recycling.
• Suppliers and business partners should work towards minimizing their ecological footprint, for instance by reducing the amount of plastic used when shipping products.
• Suppliers and business partners should contribute to prevent pollution and reduce the use of resources.
• Black Cats cooperatives manages waste of all types in a responsible way. This includes chemicals and other hazard materials
• Air pollutants caused by the supplier and business partner are to be identified and controlled.
• Suppliers and partners should provide annual statistics on the number of third-party eco-labelled products they provide.
Business integrity
• Suppliers and business partners must follow all applicable laws on fraud, corruption, bribery, and other illegal business practices. Additionally, any improper benefit, favour, or incentive shall not be offered, promised, or given to any public official, international organization, or other third party by the supplier or business partner.
• Suppliers and business partners will follow all laws and regulations that governs their business activities worldwide.
• Suppliers and business partners are committed to high ethical standards linked to their business worldwide. Production and exploitation of raw materials for production must not contribute to the destruction of marginalized groups’ income base and resources.
• The supplier or business partner agrees to avoid any conflicts of interest that may impair its employees' ability to perform their activities and responsibilities fairly and impartially.
Whistleblowing
• Alleged violations of applicable laws and regulations, as well as the code of conduct, should be reported by suppliers and business partners. Suppliers and business partners can make a complaint to their Black Cat contact person. The reports can be anonymous.
• All reports will be investigated. Those who have reported potential breaches in good faith are not subject to discrimination or other negative consequences from Black Cat
